Momos are steamed filled dumplings. It is very popular in North India and people have it with red chutney. Traditionally momos are made out of maida or all-purpose flour. At Foodus Maximus, we care a lot about minor tweaks to make things healthy, and hence we attempted to make them using whole wheat flour. And boy they did turn out to be tasty. Here goes the recipe for vegetarian wheat momos.

Ingredients
Dough for Vegetarian Wheat Momos
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup warm water
Filling for Vegetarian Wheat Momos
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 medium onions julienne
- 1/2 medium capsicum julienne
- 1/2 medium cabbage julienne
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 80 grams noodles boiled
Instructions
Wheat Dough for Vegetarian Wheat Momos
- Take 2 cups of wheat flour in a bowl
- Add 2 teaspoons of salt
- add some water, mix it well
- Add the remaining water, and knead the dough.
- Knead the dough till all the flour is not loose.
- Continue doing so until the dough is no longer sticky,
- and it becomes possible to shape it into a ball without the dough falling apart.
- Take oil in your hands and knead the wheat dough for more time.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface and knead until smooth.
- Cover the bowl with a lid and let it rest for at least 3 hours.
Filling for Vegetarian Wheat Momos
- Take one tablespoon oil in a pan
- Add garlic and saute till the raw smell of garlic goes away.
- Add the onions, saute the onions till they turn translucent.
- Add the capsicums and the cabbage.
- Add 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Add boiled noodles to it mix everything well.
- Add soy sauce to the pan and mix well.
- Cook till there is no liquid left in the filling. Let the filling cool down a little
Assembly for Vegetarian Wheat Momos
- Roll the dough into small rounds.
- Put half a tablespoon filling in the center.
- Simply fold the dumpling into a half-moon, and join the tapered edges and make them into a circle.
